Ever wondered about, or been surprised at, the values driving life in Norway? Then this is for you!
We are joined by Gabriela Sirbu, a Romanian and fluent Norwegian speaker who has lived and worked with Norwegians for over 20 years.
Gabriela Sirbu is a former journalist with a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Transformation from UiT and a specialization in practical psychology from the Norwegian Gestalt Institute in Oslo. She holds workshops, lectures, and seminars about how outsiders experience Norwegian working life and what is difficult to understand.
She is also the writer of the book “Speak the Unspoken: Exploring the Unwritten Rules of North Norway,” in which she shares her insight as an immigrant living, studying, and working in Norway for over twenty years. The book is in English and intended to help immigrants who do not yet speak the language, and English-speaking Norwegians who work with immigrants and want to better understand what foreigners do not understand.
Her experience is that we are humans, and at the same time, we are raised in many different cultures and political systems, which makes us look at situations and structures differently.
